And how do you keep it going when kids all around don’t have one?[/quote] The biggest thing is using honors and AP as a way to filter out kids who may prove to be a distraction. As for your own child, it can be tough but kids will learn by example. If you show effort in everything you do, they will see that and follow. It also helps to try to find out what your kids goals and aspirations are and work with those and their strengths. If your kid isn’t interested in STEM, be supportive and don’t place pressure on them in their STEM classes. You don’t need a 4.0 to be a success. I let my kid, who plans on law school, know that Bs in Math and Science are awesome. It allows her to relax and focus on the classes that are more important for her.[/quote]
