[/quote] Spanish 1 is split into two 2 years or 1 year in FCPS middle schools, to my knowledge. We chose the split because DS would also have taken geometry at the same time in 8th grade. Not sure how hard the 1 year class is, but 2 year is easy. Older DD is annoyed about having taken Spanish in middle school, because some colleges prefer 4 years of language in HS. If she hadn't taken it, she could have ended with Spanish 4 in 12th. Now she has to take AP to end in 12th and she doesn't love the class. I don't think it matters for most colleges though and most of her friends are ending in 11th. [/quote]
