Daaaaamn so that's where the CEO was? Is that a separate lockdown or after Wootton's?
No, these are completely separate issues. Police Chief says CEO was at Lakewood ES instead of Wootton because he was responding to a separate incident. Lakewood principal says he was not and there was no incident at Lakewood. Nobody knows where he actually was. Separately, because of the Wootton shooting, Fallsmead ES—which is merely .5 mile away—went into lockdown due to the shooter being at large (he ran out of Wootton with the gun). During Fallsmead ES lockdown, a class of kids with their teacher ran outside the safety of a building and into the community where the shooter was.
This is not the fault of the teacher IF they actually thought the shooter was in the school. Lockdown drills say you absolutely can run away into the neighborhood for safety. It's a communication failure on whoever made the announcement that there was an active shooter in the school. Now if that announcement never happened, yeah-then it is on the teacher.
Not blaming the teacher at all. Blame the announcement. Blame MCPS. Again, why am I learning this on DCUM?
