I did muscle relaxants, physical therapy, and a night guard for TMJ. Botox has been like a miracle for me. I go to Eugenia Prokopets for mine. The first set of injections was a little painful because my muscles were so tight. By the third round in within two years, I was getting lasting improvement and experiencing less discomfort with the injections. It did thin out my face a bit but not in a way that I find cosmetically unacceptable.
What’s the cost?
Cost depends on the number of units you get. Ballpark, $1000. How long it lasts depends on severity of muscle tension and how quickly your body metabolizes Botox. Also, if you get Botox for other reasons—migraines, cosmetiv concerns—you want to time your injections to be close together. Otherwise, you can develop an immune response to the injections that makes them less effective. Minimum effective duration is 12 weeks. Some people go the better part of a year without needing more.
