Please do not bash. I was looking up CDS today because saw posts saying all T10 schools are 40%+ Asian. While it's probably true for Hopkins, I found out that Chicago takes 20% Asian. Why does Chicago have a much lower percentage of Asian students than Hopkins? Anyone know why? Does that mean Asian applicants have an advantage at Hopkins compared to Chicago? TIA
JHU was only 25% Asians in 2023 but jumped dramatically to 45% in 2025. Harvard for the past three years was 30%, 37%, and 41%, also exhibiting significant increase. The timing appears to align with the magnitude of funding/other threats the current administration imposed on elite colleges. No colleges want to remain in the crosshair, but the extent to which they are willing to compromise seems to vary quite a bit. Like you said, certain schools seem capable of maintaining the status quo -- UChicago at 21%, Northwestern at 26%, and Duke at 25%, with the latter two having good-to-great engineering programs. Not sure how they managed that.
Where did you get these numbers? USNEWS has Harvard at 24% Asian.
