Essie has every right to defend MCPS against stupid cheap shots from the Council.
But she should be aware that her defense falls flat when it's coming from an institution that bashed the police for not coming quick enough, only it turned out MCPS called the police non-emergency number for a violent incident that left a kid in the ICU with a traumatic brain injury.
Wow. Where/when did this info come to light?
Not that poster. Wasn't there a long thread not too long ago about that?
I'm the PP that posted about this. I was mistaken, this occured during the stabbing incident at Wheaton where the assailant got away, not the Odessa Shannon MS assault. Apologies. Wheaton principal's message after the stabbing incident said,
While making contact, administration remained on hold for approximately 15 minutes before connecting with law enforcement.
https://mocoshow.com/2025/12/17/student-injured-in-wheaton-high-school-stabbing-suspect-not-in-custody/ However, MCPD subsequently put out a statement clarifying what happened.
Police said in a Thursday evening statement that the department was not immediately contacted. MCPS faculty, the statement said, have the option of dialing 911 or using a “designated phone line number” to directly contact the Emergency Communications Center during school emergencies. Neither 911 or the dedicated MCPS line were called, police said. Instead, the staff member dialed the Montgomery County non-emergency phone number and the “call was placed in the triage queue as an incoming non-emergency call.” The caller stayed on hold for that non-emergency line for roughly 12 minutes.
