The Universities at Shady Grove provides teaching space for:

Bowie State University
 Salisbury University
 Towson University
 University of Baltimore
 University of MD, Baltimore
 UMBC
 University of Maryland, College Park
 UMES
 UMGC.

Different universities offer selected degree programs where community college graduates can finish a 4-year bachelors degree or earn a masters degree.  Those universities have full control over their admissions, programs, and classes.

Also, the University of Maryland Global Campus was once called University College and was the part-time night school wing of University of Maryland, College Park.  Their missions diverged, and the Global Campus spun off to focus on flexible programs and online education.  The flagship College Park campus remains a Division I research university with Nobel Prize winners, football teams, a nuclear reactor, and ROTC.[/quote]
