This is a weird take. 
5th grade is the FCYBL entry year. The vast majority of kids have not played travel basketball before winter 5th grade FCYBL. That's why they are doing no-zone for 5th grade d2 and d3. [/quote]

Rec leagues have rules preventing kids from playing defense.  Some of these kids never saw a press in most cases for example.  This fact alone will get a team blown out when they get into travel.[/quote]
