My kids played in CYO, Arlington AAU & now FCYBL. It honestly /sounds like parents forgot to train their kids or use the resources to have their kid some-what developed before entering county travel / AAU basketball season. We played against that younger Annandale team and game was close until a few bad mistakes on our part second half. Both teams had a lot of mistakes and to hear that team is mostly 4th graders on a 5th grade team is simply astonishing to hear. Parents, let’s not attack Annandale or any other team for being prepared for the season; let’s train our kiddos harder.
\ This is a weird take. 5th grade is the FCYBL entry year. The vast majority of kids have not played travel basketball before winter 5th grade FCYBL. That's why they are doing no-zone for 5th grade d2 and d3.
the kids who start AAU earlier are at a huge advantage. My kids are in high school and if I had to do all over again, I wouldn’t do re/house league at all. Group or 1on1 training and AAU.
