Bedtime should be 7-7:30.
That's fine in the winter but during the summer when it's full daylight that would be far too early.
Disagree. If the kid needs to be up at 615 they need to be in bed early. They can use room darkening blinds or something. At 8yo my kid was asleep by 8 awake around 7. So i would aim to have lights out by 730 if waking at 615.
That's not the point at all, Kids don't get nearly enough time to be kids these days, When i was a kid we were outside playing until sunset and we still got up at 6:00am with no issues.
We had early bedtimes growing up in the 80s. I can still picture my dad's booming voice in the neighborhood yelling for me to come home for dinner or bed. We had lots of time to play and run around - and we still went to bed at 7pm the first few years of elementary school. Kids didn't so many organized activities like they do now at those ages.
I grew up in the early 2000s, None of the kids in my neighborhood had bedtimes that early.
I'm sure it varies a lot by neighborhood. Presumably kids whose bus comes at 7:15am are going to bed earlier than kids whose bus comes at 8:30. School start schedules vary, as does the first child to be picked up vs the last. I'm just offering example of my early bedtime as an example that it isn't some new phenomenon. Also, a lot of parents do things I wouldn't have my own kids do. Maybe they buy their 5 year olds tablets. That doesn't mean it's a good idea for me to do the same.
