This post makes me for early 2000's Food Network- back when most of the shows were actually cooking demos. Rachel Ray of course, but Barefoot Contessa, Tyler's Ultimate, 5 Igredient Fix, EveryDay Italian, and NIGELLA! I loved those shows. Now it is all competition shows and things basically feel like paid advertisements for restaurants.
Alton Brown was my favorite. He explained things so well and I loved his sense of humor.
I agree. America’s test kitchen always irks me because they always decide that the best version of a recipe uses some unusual ingredient that I don’t have on hand, like cola or plain yogurt something. I don’t want to have to go out a buy things just to make some really basic recipe like muffins or chili.
They also have all these crazy non traditional time consuming techniques that are not practical for typical home cooks.
