Then there's a group of very smart, very poor, first-gen, immigrant-parent kids who are intensely desirable to colleges: usually POC, extremely motivated families, incredibly smart and well prepared. Then there are all the normal smart kids who because of the intense resources of the school and their families are able to do spectacular summer service projects or research or start businesses to benefit charities etc. Plus all the kids who do recruitable and rarer sports like ice hockey, squash, crew.
