I had my kid do in-person normal PE because the rest of her schedule is so difficult that i thought PE would be a nice break from her AP and intensified classes. I was right. So consider that.
The break has been nice for my kid now that he is doing a sport - but a good chunk of the class is being in a classroom (learning about nutrition, importance of sleep etc). That part drove my kid crazy. for 10th grade, he is planning to get PE out of the way over the summer. The thing to be aware of is that you have daily assignments (with a little flexibility for travel) so your kid does need to be available each weekday to log in. They can use a fitbit if they are doing an organized physical activity.
