Heights families are considered super-duper old school Catholics that go so far above and beyond to embrace outdated conservative beliefs not commonly held by most practicing Catholics. It’s a big choice that says something about your family if you opt to send your kid there. Signed, Cradle Catholic from the area with many decades of visibility
“Outdated” lol. Begone, troll.
Many would say that “vile” is a better term.
I was trying to be diplomatic and kind. Bottom line: there aren’t any lapsed Catholics at the Heights. Rather, parents are opting for a school that embraces a very specific Opus Dei approach to Catholicism that mainstream practicing Catholics find to be outdated, off-putting, etc. It’s super-duper conservative. One of the key tenets is that sex is only for reproduction, so menopausal women are no longer useful for sex. Google it, it’s a thing. While my family didn’t subscribe to Opus Dei, I was raised in a parish with families who were Opus Dei and sent their kids to the heights (and oakcrest). And my mom was raised in an old school catholic household, so she knew Opus Dei families from childhood. Nobody randomly sends their kids to the heights. It’s a very deliberate choice that means something.
