I think they’re trying to skirt around this by saying they’re relocating Wootton to Crown, not closing it.

Whether that argument would hold up legally if challenged, who knows. But Option H seeks to relocate Wootton, not close the school itself, although they would be vacating their current building.

A useful precedent to look at would be to look at back when Neelsville Middle School took over Martin Luther King Jr Middle School’s building in Germantown when that school was moved to a new building.[/quote]

Closing/relocating a school and merging with others are not same as just boundary change. MCPS can claim whatever they want, but it doesn’t hold legal grounds and they should understand that it will definitely be challenged. There needs to be different process to legally force that move.
