I had one going top speed (28-30 mph) on E-bike run the red light at the Arlington Courthouse/Clarendon Blvd light by the CVs and missed me by inches….and then ran the next two red lights to go down Veitch and narrowly missed an 80-year old woman. He was wearing a helmet but if he hit either of us at that speed we would have been very seriously injured, if not dead!!!! My neighbor runs on the bike trails and has seen a very bad collision between one of these and a regular bike.
Depending on the type of e-bike, the most expensive can get up to 45mph. In wealthy Arlington County, the keeping up with the Jones likely have this model. I saw 4th graders with the highest/most expensive iPhones, $1,000 sneakers, back when my kids were in public in Arlington County. They also drink/smoke/vape in the woods at that one park…forget the name.
