As well, interviewing for a *new job* is kind of the paradigmatic example of something you are doing for you own benefit and the detriment of your current employer. It’s just dumb dumb dumb and unprofessional to do. It would make me think you like to cut corners and that you don’t value the job enough to take leave for the interview. [/quote]

Have you ever -done- federal hiring? It's very standardized. You ask everyone the same thing. There's no box for "I think this person cuts corners based on an ethics rule I made up." If you are dinging applicants for that, they are violating nothing and you are violating merit hiring rules. [/quote]
