(As an aside they were the first and only a few actually ever owned slaves in America, the rich whites.). The Monroe doctrine likely helped eliminate slavery throughout the west like Cuba and Brazil. Though many places in Africa and the Middle East are still struggling to overcome the effects. [/quote]
