The quality of the players on the team matters a lot more than the coach. Now the coach has to be somewhat competent to string together a team of talented athletes, but from there the players will adapt to any shortfalls in coaching and improve as long as they are getting the repetitions. Plus their success will attract other good athletes in the area to tryout. This is evidenced when you see a large club with 5 teams at a given age group and each team gets signicantly worse to where the 5th team is no better than a rec team. If paid coaching and club coaching mattered that much, every team would be good.[/quote]
