OP here. I get at our ES: weekly newsletter from teacher, weekly newsletter from principal, weekly call from principal. The call has zero information and is all about feelings/school spirit/enthusiasm/reminders to check the newsletter.
Why on earth do you listen to it if it bugs you so much and has zero information? Just treat it like any other spam call and ignore.
I'm not sure why this critique bugs you so much? It's okay to be critical of something that isn't a productive use of time or could be more efficient. Sometimes systems continue because that's the way it used to be done, meanwhile new systems are also added and it takes discussion to realize old systems can be adjusted. School's have a lot to handle in a finite amount of time. This might be one area where the system could be adjusted for the benefit of all/ most. It may only seem like something that takes a few minutes of time, but time adds up and anytime saved is a benefit. As others have said, they read the newsletters and listen to the calls weekly as part of being a responsible parent and wanting to keep up with what's going on at school. In my opinion, most of the time, I feel like I just waisted my time, but I do it for that 10% of the time when there's something I need to know.
