The UK restricts hate speech, defamation, incitement and indecency in the name of public safety and public order. Not quite what the OP is suggesting.
If you'd bothered to follow British papers, there's been no shortage of controversy over these laws, with people receiving harsher prosecution than actual criminals just for a WhatsApp message or Twitter post. It's one reason why the current Labour government has the lowest approval ratings of any government in the history of British politics (and they cancelled local elections two years in a row, talk about preserving democracy!). Nigel Farage stands an excellent chance of forming the next government. That’s how hated Labour is. I find the Kimmel invitation peculiar and tone deaf. It's absolutely an echo chamber of Guardian and Labour politicians living out a fantasy while reality around them is in a very different place. The same people who spent decades pretending the grooming gangs weren't existing. As for the PP commenting on sharia law, it is already de facto in existence for certain people in certain areas. Once again it's worth reading the actual British presses.
