If everything is moved earlier, when do you do PSAT? When do you do SAT? Esp. if you're trying to leave the possibility of taking it twice?
As soon as possible after Algebra II. For my kids, that meant study and prep June/July/Aug Aland take the exam Aug/Sept at the start of their junior year. Plenty of time to retake if needed. For our kids, one kid did retake, one was one and done. Best part is that all year they can concentrate in AP courses and spring AP exams and not worry about SAT or ACT exams
I have a current sophomore. At the advice of their college counselor, they signed themselves up to take the SAT for the first time at the June sitting. This will be close after completion of both precalc and lang & comp classes in school. This will give a baseline score to determine next steps and whether ACT is a better fit. Likely will also do targeted prep over the summer and retake the SAT in September of junior year before the academic year gets underway. Then a break before taking the in school SAT in March of junior year. At least that’s the plan for now!
