How do my know this? It hasn’t been reported anywhere. The school does background checks. Priors would have been flagged there unless they weren’t reported to authorities.

To the school's credit, they told all parents and students about this a couple of weeks ago. The email begins "We are aware of allegations that one of our high school staff members engaged in inappropriate conduct involving a student. The safety and wellbeing of our students is and will always be our highest priority. As soon as we became aware of these allegations, we promptly notified law enforcement and other appropriate authorities, and have taken and continue to take necessary steps in line with our policies, values, and applicable law to support student safety and wellbeing, including those directly affected." It goes on with more information (nothing specific about the allegations), support for students/parents/staff, MPD contact info, etc. I feel very sad for the student affected.
Good for the school. (I taught at a school where this happened and it was completely hushed up).
Really? If law enforcement is involved it is going to be in the news. The school can’t ignore it. I wouldn’t exactly congratulate them.
You're clearly out of touch with the fact that in school district after school district, the fact that police are involved does not stop them from trying to hush it up and silence everyone from discussing it. Emails like the one posted here never happen until after it blows up and the school half-heartedly says "We're on it". So yeah, DCI does deserve kudos for being straightforward about it, I wish all schools were up front that way. Most are not.
They deserve no kudos. This man had priors and they still hired him. Shame on DCI.

It's all over the news and socials. https://www.fox5dc.com/news/dc-high-school-teacher-arrested-charged-sexually-abusing-student-jan-12-2025
Such classic DCUM BS: NOTHING IN THAT ARTICLE MENTIONS PRIORS. Whoever said that made that up until someone posts a credible source that actually says it. So many instigators here, stop making an already hugely problematic situation worse with made up facts.
Sorry. I am PP that posted the article. Not the one that said he had priors. I thought the PP was just asking how her kids know about the main incident.
Pretty sure whoever said he had priors made it up, because none of the articles so far have mentioned anything about priors. The crime is clear enough and awful enough already, and if the school dropped any balls that will come out. But making stuff up to make the school look worse without a source is messed up.
