But I also think that Booker is a miserable place (I'm an UWS public school parent). The principal is an insufferable know-it-all who insists on work for the sake of work (and proudly admits it). It is a culture of total conformity where all of the kids are saying "what did you get" all the time. Lots of kids who think they are brilliant and parents who think their kids walk on water. If your kid does not perfectly fit their mold, they are incredibly unhelpful.

Unfortunately WESS and Computer are pretty far to the other extreme but have been getting more academically rigorous. I know a number of top kids who went to these schools (particularly Computer), excelled, had a much more pleasant middle school experience, got into top SHSAT and private schools, and excelled at them.

Bottom line - Booker is over-rated. Most Booker parents unfortunately drink the Kool Aid. But some get the joke.[/quote]
