What is the difference between the recipes in them? Or does he just like a book over an iPad/printed recipe?
As an experienced cook, internet recipes can range the gamut from published authors posting recipes to the millions of untried and unproven weird blogs (are those real?) and untested recipes random people posted to allrecipes.com. Cookbooks have the advantage that their recipes are extensively tested and are more reliable. And some people do prefer having the book and not squinting at a screen. I do find recipes online but I am very careful and only rely on proven names and cooks and recipes that are typically printed from a cookbook. Another suggestion is Barefoot Contessa for everyday cooking. Straightforward yet impeccable. There's a reason why she is so popular and highly regarded.
