Northwestern has the most beautiful indoor lacrosse field house overlooking the lake. That view alone is worth choosing Northwestern if you have a lacrosse player.
No. It is not the best reason. Facilities are important but not the ONLY reason to choose a school. Playing a D1 sport is almost like joining the military. The school "owns" you and your time. Don't listen to this person.
Playing a college sport is not even a little bit like joining the military. Did you write this with a straight face??
I was a college athlete & a military officer & I see the similarity. Not the SAME, obviously, but you’re part of a tightly knit group with lots of obligations, and it’s a constant struggle to balance your team/military responsibilities with the rest of your life.
I agree with this. Being a a D1 athlete is a serious grind, not at all dissimilar to ROTC. They're both up by 6 am. If I were choosing between Vandy, Northwestern, and BC, I'd focus on the culture of the program. Do the athletes stay for all four years? It's a different era today with NIL and the transfer portal. Vandy in particular seems very serious about being a prominent D1 sports school - football, basketball, and baseball are all ranked teams. And that doesn't happen by accident. BC and Northwestern will likely be more chill.
