News and updates are being shared by schools on IG. Why? Why? Why?
I now only use IG to consume information. I follow kids' schools and activities, local event groups, and people who make content that is helpful to me in some way -- travel tips, Excel spreadsheet tips, financial planning tips, crochet ideas, decorating ideas, parenting strategies, etc. I don't post and only a handful of the friends and family I follow actually post photos. I think some people still post stories but I refuse to view stories because (1) they are intentionally addictive and will just suck me into spending more time on IG than I want, and (2) I think it's a privacy violation to share that I've viewed a story with the creator -- what I choose to look at is my business and I think it's weird IG does this. I used to be a heavy IG user and posted frequently. But like OP said, I realized I was mostly posting for validation and to try and project a specific image to friends and family. Like most IG users, I heavily curated what I posted and was just getting too focused on trying to use the app to get people to see me a certain way. I am happy to have my privacy back. I can still share photos with people via text, and do, but it feels more like just sharing a piece of my life than trying to craft a whole image for me and my family.
