My husband (software developer) was laid off several months ago. The rejections are brutal, I'm sorry. Sometimes he takes a day or two to wallow in it but you have to keep trudging forward. It's especially hard now that the holidays are approaching. Try to keep hope alive (easier said than done, I know). Things won't always be this way or at least that's what I keep telling myself! Good luck to you, OP, I hope the right opportunity finds you soon.
Yes, the job market for software developer has been brutal since the end of 2023. I know at least 50 software developers in my circle who are currently unemployed for at least 12 months. These jobs are mainly filled with H1-B people, and American people have zero shot at them, unless it is in the DoD space. There are many contractors such as SAIC and BAH that hire H1-B people and have them work at government on-site such as PBGC, FDIC, and other federal government agencies. They also pay H1-B folks low salaries so US citizens can not compete with that. It is absolutely criminal if you ask me.
