When my DD was at Longfellow, they carried their backpacks (5 years ago), which I do think was easier. The class changes are so tight I'm not sure if they have to stop at their lockers how they really have any time.

A large amount of lockers at McLean were removed about 6 years ago due to the overcrowding. The (2.5? 3? feet) additional space was needed for kids to physically move around during class changes.

My kids are walkers to McLean and so (should) have winter gear with them in the winter.  Without a locker they have nowhere to put it.  It's fine, because they can request one, or deal with it, and it's definitely not something I will get involved with, but I think it's weird.  My kid has not gotten a locker for sports, so maybe that's not everyone?

My kids at Longfellow have no trouble going to their lockers between classes[/quote]
