4 stars means it has an on site full service restaurant. 5 stars means you get ritz level service. Personally, when I vacation I like to chill, not have every need attended to, so shy away from 5 stars even though I can afford it. Buy obviously don’t want to stay in a 3 star Hampton inn. So 4 stars is actually a good middle ground.
This is a good explanation of how I feel. I used to stay in Ritz for $600 a night, and I think of them as lower level 5 star. Now they just aren't worth what they charge IMO. Exceptional service at Rosewood type resorts, and it's so much better than Ritz. However, I don't need to spend $2500 a night with my kids for spring break. They want an awesome pool, and don't want to just sit around. Hence, the no 5 stars.
