Well, if you got this information from your spouse, they are a physician who doesn't know what the heck they are talking about (and, I'm guessing, they are ancient). No one is trying to "protect salaries." The reasons for the number of spots in residencies and fellowships are complex, and not about "protecting salaries." At all. [/quote]
