The mod system at Madeira is unique, and it’s not a good fit for every student. If it is a good fit, it’s a great opportunity, however.
Can you elaborate on the type of student the mod system would not be a good fit for? My daughter likes the idea of it, but we don’t know what we don’t know
I think it’s not really a “type,” except maybe for kids with ADHD or an LD who do better with less chopped-up schedules (some do better with *more* chopped up schedules, so even that isn’t universal—you have to know your kid). If it’s appealing to your daughter, it’s probably fine. It was not at all appealing to mine, who really didn’t like the idea of not having, say, math consistently all year long.
The mod schedule has been great for my ADHD snail who likes to dive deep on a couple of things at a time.
The Mod system can work very well or very poorly for an ADHD student. Less classes to keep track of is definitely a positive. Conversely, the mod system is fast-paced, with no margin for error, that requires staying on top of assignments or risk falling behind. If you have the kind of kid that doesn’t turn in assignments on time or have the motivation to keep on top of their schoolwork, Madeira is not for them.
