My sons left for Good Counsel. We were told that about 20% of the class leaves. Kids left for Gonzage, GP, PVI, St. John's, Richard Montgomery. Those are just kids I know. We thought too many years of all boys was not good but appreciated it for the few years they were there. They were exceptionally prepared for HS and I have heard the same from many others. I've even heard it from other parents/teachers/admin that the Heights kids are very prepared.
How do you feel the academics and vibe is at Good counsel? Were your boys prepared for the HSPT and did they get a solid foundation at Heights? Are your boys liking their new school?
They liked Good Counsel. I like that they worked side by side with very successful girls and had natural relationships with them not just dating relationships. I did not see that at the Heights. Their philosophy is you only date to get married. Boys aren't mature enough to enter into a mutually respectful relationship in HS therefore they should not be in one. I disagree; I think these mistakes at a young age are good learning experiences. Obviously, they don't control what happens outside of school. They don't encourage friendships with females. You can go back and listen to their podcasts about this. they were prepared for the HSPT. 3-5 is great, lots of learning but active learning. 6-8 is intense and more so than is really necessary but they are super prepared.
