I am a Catholic who knows very little about Opus Dei. I have family member who like to put out an image that their lives are rooted in their Catholic faith but I suspect they are anything but. They are people that are very kind and generous only if there is something in it for them and they are mostly powerful men. I suspect they are involved. Since the Pope has questioned this organization it makes me want to take a deeper dive into what Opus Dei is all about. Are there any big names (Supreme Court Justices) that identify with this group or is affiliation kept hush?
I think Alito is Opus Dei and Kavanough too. Should be easy enough to find out. You gotta be a guy -- that I know.
Scalia apparently too.
Came here to say that.
Not to make this bleed over into the politics subforum, but this is a problem. When judges, especially Supreme Court judges, have blatant religious influence in their decision making, you wonder why atheists have been so vocal about separating belief from reality in these threads. If a majority of justices said they were Flying Spaghetti Monster adherents, would you theists here be as supportive? Would you continue to say that their decision making abilities were fine? I question the ability to make reasonable judgements by anyone who believes myths as facts.
