An uncapped league, with fear of being relegated, makes sense.

The problem that the only uncapped league in the US has today, and that's MLB, is that there is no fear of loosing out of the golden goose of playing at the top level.  Owners like Bob Nutting of the Pittsburgh Pirates field teams that have 1/5 the payroll of the World Series winning Dodgers and are still making bank.

So, promotion, relegation.  Uncapped salaries.  Sounds good.

Now for the women's side.  Yeah, it's a long road for USL SL to get there.  They kinda started at the top with the Super League and have a strong summer league with the USL-W, but are lacking the middle.

Whereas the men's side already has a pretty large network of teams in USLC, USL1, the summer league USL2 and then now their new first division.

Just curious, because I never really thought about it, what are all those players in leagues outside of the top level EPL doing besides soccer?  Does it pay enough or is a side hustle needed if you are playing in EFL League one, which on their pyramid is the equivalent of the USL1.
