Tulane is the easier admit. They cater to wealthy yet average kids unlike VT.
DD has above average stats but has fallen in love with the school. Hoping if she attends it will be more of a “big fish small pond” environment for her
I don't know firsthand about Tech, other than its excellent reputation. But what you will get at Tulane is smaller class sizes, an emphasis on service learning connected with the curriculum that will likely get your DD out into the field, and opportunities for research directly with professors. I’m pretty sure none of DD’s classes were taught by TAs. She took full advantage of the many things Tulane has to offer. Scholarships, research grants, funded study abroad - and she had two mentors in particular that helped her along the way. I realize people call Tulane a party school, but really it’s a R1 research university in a party city. Having the maturity to navigate that is what can set her apart.
This is SO helpful thank you
