My child was in a private prep school and decided, for all sorts of reasons, to go back to our local public. When he registered, they took his informal transcript to decide which classes he was eligible for and, then, requested his official transcript to recharacterize his GPA into their scale (went from letter grades to percentages). It was kind of a mess and I felt I had to fight to ensure his prep school grades were accounted for properly, but it all worked out. For college, he only sent the transcript from the public that had already accounted for his earlier grades. [/quote]
