+1 - a glass room could get intensely hot and uncomfortable and I'd only consider it for a yard with full shade. Otherwise you'll likely spend a ton on running the AC to make it comfortable and unless it has it's own unit, you'd be making the rest of your house freezing. We would love to have a screened in back porch but it's cost-prohibitive at the moment. For us, we love the idea of outdoor entertaining space that is mosquito-free (without spraying insecticide everywhere). A screened in back porch can also have skylights to keep it from being too dark; you could also have retractable shades for the skylights to keep it from being too hot outdoors. In our case, we aren't trying to add any square footage to the house; instead, a screened in back porch would make entertaining in our back yard much more pleasant. But for now, we're holding off.

We've also looked into getting one of the metal pergolas that have either a louvred roof that can be opened/closed, perhaps also with retractable screens on the sides that can be lowered/raised. You also don't necessarily need it attached to your house; it could be standalone on a larger deck in your yard. Having a roof that can be opened/closed would be enough temperature control for me. You could also likely have ceiling fans as well.

OP - for your master bedroom option I'd avoid an outdoor entertaining space under a new bedroom mainly for it potentially being too dark. But it could also make for cold floors in your new addition.
