Really?  You must be pretty unfamiliar with the current state of higher ed in Virginia.  CNU is small; probably the smallest state school in VA.  CNU makes  Princeton Review's "The Best 377 Best Colleges."  Other schools like VCU, VMI, and Old Dominion did not.  Also according to Princeton Review, students enrolling at CNU have higher SATs than those at James Madison and George Mason.

I think of CNU as the Virginia version of St. Mary's College of Maryland.  Small, and not that well known, but increasingly selective and geared towards students who don't want/need a big party scene.

We toured it and thought it was nice.  Amazing dorms.  Very friendly students.  The biggest negative was that it wasn't clear whether Newport News was really a good place from which to try and secure jobs after graduation.  DS decided to go to a larger university in another state, but our overall impression was favorable.[/quote]
