My older boy got rejected with 160 NNAT and 146 CoGAT, he got in on an appeal with a WISC score of 154. Just know that there’s reverse discrimination in the AAP selection process. Sometime a WISC score is needed so they can’t find any excuse to reject your kid. Parents can file lawsuits with the state.
If they can get into 999 society with that IQ score, there’s no reason why they can’t get into a county’s gifted program.
Except that they don't bill it as a gifted program, and it's partly a kind of affirmative action program. Kids considered disadvantaged get experience points, Young Scholars get bonus points, and teachers are supposed to complete the HOPE evaluation by comparing the kids to others in a similar group.
