You almost got it. Anti-abortion was a niche Catholic idea until republicans created it as a wedge issue and ran a campaign to brainwash a generation of scientifically illiterate people to believe abortion is murder, so they would turn off their brains completely regarding every other issue.  It was a scam from the start.[/quote]
