Even knowing generally the high rates of mental illness and other brain-related impairments in the prison population, I was taken aback by how many of them had FAS in addition to diagnosed mental illness and/or intellectual disability (presumably IQs that were at some point measured over 70). I have two nephews with FAS, one of whom has schizophrenia as well. Both are under county guardianship and live in supervised settings. Neither has been able to function outside of a structured setting. [/quote]
