No big surprises, but the participation rates at some schools skew higher because of pilot programs or existing policies at certain schools.  At McLean, all pre-calculus students got switched to AP Pre-Calculus in 2024-25 and at Marshall and Justice IB English is the default English course for non-ESOL students.  [/quote]

I'm honestly confused here. Why is the number for TJ so low? Shouldn't all students at TJ be taking at least one AP class? Aren't they the best of the best? How can their number be so close to the other high performers, who also contain students who just happen to live within their borders?[/quote]

This percentage is based on all students at the school last year.

Right. Don't most high achieving freshmen take AP human geology? Don't most high achieving sophomores take AP World? I would expect the numbers at TJ to be way higher than, say Oakton.[/quote]

Students at TJ don’t take a social studies class in 9th grade.  The only students at TJ that take AP classes are the students in AP Precalculus/ AP calculus or AP CS A - data structures.

100% of TJ graduates take AP classes.[/quote]
