The book's content is secondary-school level interest, but its Accelerated Reader level is 4.9, i.e., 4th grade, 9th month. Take a look at a few pages of the text and make your own determination.[/quote]

Thank you for the explanation.  I read a few pages last night but I don't have the framework to determine what is on level, accelerated, etc.

DP. I would say that the only book option for this marking period that is at the 9th grade reading level is A Separate Peace. Neither Magic Fish nor All American Boys is appropriate for this grade. [/quote]
