People should be aware of what being named to one of these talent id centers means at u14/15, and what it does not mean.

It means you play at a large club with ECNL/MLSN/GA
It means you are good relative to the other players on the club team.
It means you have a good attitude, work hard, and are one of the coach's favorites.
It means your club wants you to stay with the team but you are now more marketable to go elsewhere.

It does not mean you are better than the other players on the club team.
It does not mean you will get the same nomination next time.
It does not mean college coaches will be contacting you in 8th/9th grade.
It does not mean you are destined for D1 schools with scholarships.

To add some perspective for this...what was stated above is very much true with the initial invites and don't be surprised if your DD isn't invited back time after time....but again, what your DD does there when they get the chance is theirs's.  Work hard, have fun, enjoy the experience.  Going through this as a parent has been interesting in that there is not a ton of transparency in the overall process....DD first got invited at U15 and went to two IDs.   As part of the expanded "net" that is being cast got invited back at U16 to a local ID.  Then, delightedly received a call to go to a 24 player camp.  Just received another call to go again to another 24 player camp.  Hasn't had the opportunity to wear the crest in a formal game environment, but this is all really wild stuff thinking of where we were with U-Littles when I was a silly parent coaching to today.

I suppose what I am saying is enjoy it.  It's not something to be taken lightly, but at the same time, isn't going to make or break your child's soccer experience.  Meaning, there are so many more players that are playing at high levels that haven't had these experiences, don't think that if they don't happen your chances are sunk.

Just saying, enjoy the experience.

You’re an idiot and have no idea what you’re talking about. That poster provided helpful context for parents and some transparency into the national team process, which is not transparent at all. It only impacts the top 1% of players, but it is cool to hear.

I'm the poster that wrote that and thank you to the above poster - not sure how else to have worded the that next step.  Get called to matches?   As to the poster that thinks its the cringiest thing you've heard.  That's your opinion and you are entitled to it, but getting to that next step is an accomplishment that we will be proud of.    As for extra stuff that we'll pay for?  Not sure exactly what you are driving at there...outside trainings?  Sure, she does them?  Strength / Agility training.  Bingo there too.
