I work at a well known crypto company. For the average consumer - NEVER buy crypto outside of a credible platform (or transfer it to some sketchy staking site post purchase). This is obviously a scam. Idk how church works but I’d see if you can report them to a higher office like the diocese or something if the pastor / priest is in on the rig too.
It’s not the pastor but a couple who are influential church leaders and serve within the church. They have had financial problems and they claim this new crypto has been a blessing to them. People are buying this crypto based on their testimony. I’m afraid for our friends.
You need to talk to the pastor and get these people to stop. They are scamming the rest of the flock. Whether they were taken in themselves is a harder question, but not your problem since they're trying to lure others to the scam.
This will not end well if this crypto scheme continues in the church. And the pastor should realize the risks to his flock if this continues. And you mention that these folks have had financial troubles, even more reason to stop this sales scheme in the church. It needs to be brought before the pastor and senior church leadership, and have these sales tactics stopped. You may consider putting your notice in writing to the church leadership. That will increase their desire to stop this activity. Documentation makes people act.
These people are selling crypto at home bible study, in their home (not church). They are also posting social media about how much they have earned through 'referrals' so they must have brought in a lot of people. The pastor does understand crypto so he's reluctant to call them out.
