The war was going on since the King David hotel bombing in 1946 when Israel/the Irgun and Hagganah was killing everyone non Jewish  that they can get their hands on including Palestinians, UN partition officials , British Mandate officers/officials that gave them the state of Israel. Anti semitic riots broke out throughout the UK who instantly regretted Balfour. Israeli Zionists threatened Harry Truman with letter bombs to push through partition.
