Since it's just the four of us for Christmas dinner we do fondue. Cheese with mini hot dogs, bread and veggies; then chocolate - with antyhing they want (i love to see how long it takes the kids to remember that last year they dipped the chocolate santa in ;)
Haha...we've done it the other way. My wife grew up with fondue for Christmas, but we prefer the broth fondue. So I make a very flavorful homemade chicken soup (although some years, for some guests, I've made vegan vegetable stock). We have beef, chicken, shrimp and salmon, and a selection of veggies. I get about 15 sauces and we dip. Some dinner rolls round out the menu. I save the stock when done. The next day, I reheat, add some small pasta, some leftover veggies and made some bite-sized pieces of one of the proteins and make soup. The soup is so rich and tasty.
