4.4 is def top 15-% OP - open up Naviance scattergram. Pick a school like UVa and VT where most TJ kids apply - and u will see that 4.4 is in the top quadrant - on the upper end. My best guess is 3.25 to 4: 25% 4 to 4.25: 25% 4.25 to 4.40: 35% 4.40 and above 15%
You are way off. First of all, the Scattergrams represent the GPA at graduation when GPAs climb the highest because of all the post-AP classes every senior takes that are give them 5.0 for an A. A 4.5 puts you in the top 25% of juniors. A 4.4 puts you outside the top 1/3.
You’re even more off. 4.5 junior year is definitely top 10%.
That would be only 50 kids having a 4.5 or better. There is no way that is true.
DC had 4.55 by junior year and was secretly told to be among top 15 person (not percent). So yeah, 4.5 could well be top 10%.
Secretly told? This sounds like a lie
You believe whatever you want to believe. Nobody cares.
Who told your junior this? And why? They don't tell the colleges this information so what use would it be to the students? The difference between the top students is like 0.01 GPA, it's meaningless. I know my counselor pretty well and she would never "secretly" tell me anything like this. Their mission seems to be to reduce stress (almost to the detriment of our futures), not help students keep score. The entire school administration seems to be on this same mission.
