If we do not have enough people wanting to be doctors, then we need to incentivize becoming a doctor. If we have enough people who want to be doctors but they are being weeded out (as a PP suggested) or not finding residencies (as the OP article suggests) then we can fix that. If you think medical services should be provided or subsidized by the government, plenty of people agree with you. But the answer is never for the government to require an individual to work more than they want to or need to just because there are more patients to see.[/quote]
